Why now

Since March 1, 2025, Google Maps Platform has replaced its $200 monthly credit with a free usage cap for each core SKU; Dynamic Street View is free for 5,000 events a month, then $14 per 1,000. Mapillary shares all of its street-level images under a CC BY-SA license.
