Helium

Helium is a desktop web browser built on Chromium that aims to be quiet and private out of the box. It blocks ads, trackers, cookie banners and third-party cookies by default, resists fingerprinting, and makes no background requests without consent, so there is nothing to opt out of after installing. The interface is deliberately minimal, with four layout options including vertical tabs, a frameless mode, colour themes, split view and tab groups, and it keeps compatibility with Chromium extensions. Built-in !bangs jump straight to thousands of sites from the address bar without a search results page, and tabs you are not using can be hibernated to save memory and battery. Helium is open source and developed in public by imput, a two-person team whose other projects include cobalt.tools. The browser is available in beta for macOS, Windows and Linux, with automatic updates. It suits people who want an ad-free Chromium browser without assembling extensions and settings themselves.
