About Travelling At Night
Travelling At Night is a narrative role-playing game from Weather Factory, the studio behind Cultist Simulator and BOOK OF HOURS. It is dialogue-driven and has no combat: you shape a character through skills, experiences and passions, then travel by train across an alternate Europe in 1948, where American 'Incorporates' and Soviet 'Ministries' face off in a strange cold war, meeting people whose conversations change with what you say and who you have become. Your character is returning after being 'hollowed out' twelve years earlier, and the past has not finished with them. Locations are painted isometric scenes, from cafés to libraries, paired with illustrated dialogue panels and character portraits. The studio names Disco Elysium, Planescape: Torment and the first Fallout games as the tradition it is working in. Weather Factory describes itself as a London-based husband-and-wife team, Alexis Kennedy and Lottie Bevan, working with a small group of freelancers. The game has no release date yet, but a free demo is on Steam and receives frequent builds, and the press kit lists Windows, Mac and Linux versions for Steam and GOG.
Why it is here: A husband-and-wife studio with two acclaimed games behind it, developing its most ambitious project openly with a public, frequently updated demo.
